Visa Types

Vatican City does not issue traditional visas. Instead, visitors must obtain a special entry permit known as a “Visitor’s Pass.”

Required Documents

  • Valid passport with a validity of at least 6 months beyond the intended date of departure from Vatican City
  • Completed Visitor’s Pass application form
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs

Application Procedures

Step 1: Obtain an Application Form

  • Download the Visitor’s Pass application form from the Vatican website: https://www.vaticanstate.va/en/visitors/visit-the-vatican.html
  • Alternatively, you can request a form by emailing visitatori@scv.va

Step 2: Complete the Application Form

  • Fill out the application form completely and accurately.
  • Provide all the required information, including your personal details, passport information, and intended dates of visit.

Step 3: Submit the Application

  • Submit the completed application form, passport-sized photographs, and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the following address:

Fees

There is no fee for obtaining a Visitor’s Pass.

  • The processing time for Visitor’s Pass applications is typically 10-15 business days.

  • Visitor’s Passes are valid for a single entry into Vatican City for a specific date and time.
  • Passes are issued for either morning (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM) or afternoon (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM) visits.
  • It is mandatory to carry your Visitor’s Pass and valid passport while visiting Vatican City.
  • Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
