Visa Types
Kazakhstan offers various types of visas depending on the purpose of your visit:
- Tourist Visa: For short-term visits for tourism or recreation (up to 30 days)
- Business Visa: For business-related activities (up to 90 days)
- Work Visa: For employment in Kazakhstan (up to 1 year)
- Student Visa: For studies in Kazakhstan (up to 5 years)
- Transit Visa: For travelers passing through Kazakhstan (up to 5 days)
Required Documents
The general documents required for a Kazakhstan visa application include:
- Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity beyond the intended stay
- Completed visa application form
- Two passport-size photographs
- Proof of accommodation (hotel reservation or letter of invitation)
- Proof of financial means (bank statement or credit card details)
- Proof of travel insurance
- Invitation letter (if applicable)
Application Procedures
1. Choose the Visa Type: Determine the appropriate visa type based on your purpose of visit.

3. Submit Application:
- Online: You can apply for a visa online through the eVisa portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan: https://evisa.mfa.gov.kz

4. Pay Fees: Visa fees vary depending on the type of visa and duration of stay. You can pay the fees online or at the embassy/consulate.

Visa fees vary depending on the visa type, duration of stay, and processing time. As of February 2023, the approximate fees are:
- Tourist Visa (single-entry, 30 days): $50
- Business Visa (single-entry, 90 days): $100
- Work Visa (multiple-entry, 1 year): $200
Timelines
- eVisa: Processing time is usually 3-5 business days.
- Embassy/Consulate: Processing time varies depending on the embassy/consulate workload. It typically takes 1-2 weeks.
Additional Notes
- Visa-free Entry: Citizens of certain countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, can enter Kazakhstan visa-free for up to 90 days.
- Visa Extensions: If you need to extend your visa while in Kazakhstan, you must apply through the local migration police.
- Registration: Foreigners staying in Kazakhstan for more than 30 days must register with the local migration police within 5 days of arrival.
